The No. 5 Ole Miss Rebels will be facing the sharpshooters of West Point (No. 8) this Saturday at the Ole Miss Rifle range located next to the Oxford Conference Center.
The women’s rifle team is coming off a victory over UT Martin, which allowed for the Rebels to post the fifth highest score ever – 4668-4591.
“This season we have been working a lot on our team as a whole. We know we can control what we do and what we bring to the table,” said junior Emily Cock.
The Rebels will have four home matches at the Ole Miss Rifle Range, with Army being the first one of the season.
“We can’t control what any other team does, so we have been trying our best in every aspect to make sure we are bringing our 110% to every practice, every match and every workout we can be the best we can be together,” Cock said.
The Rebels performed well in their last match, boasting a collection of personal bests: junior Abby Buesseler tied the third highest smallbore score in program history with a 586 and senior Alana Kelly beat her previous smallbore mark by four points to post a 583.
“Ole Miss Rifle is excited for the rest of the season and we are ready to watch our hard work in action,” Cock said.
This weekend’s match is scheduled to start with smallbore at 8 a.m. The first 35 fans will receive a cooler bag featuring Ole Miss Navy ROTC.
The Rebels will then have a match up with West Virginia on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Ole Miss Rifle Range.
